We enjoyed a great and technical camp taught by Glenn PACK, shihan and Pat SAIZ, shihan. The theme for the camp was “Harmony with Nature: Using Physics, and Psychology to improve Technical Skills and Teaching Skills.”
During the camp we worked on proper ukemi skills and discussed the importance of learning and teaching students to fall safely since it applies to the mat as well as accidental falling when off the mat.
We learned the physics and mechanics of techniques which gave a better understanding of how to best apply them with minimum effort for maximum efficiency.
Advanced weapons and empty hand kata were reviewed with an emphasis on how to research, analysis and teach kata to students.
Over the course of the camp the following promotions occurred: Robert CHESHIRE, Matt GILLIARD and Arthur PACK were promoted to godan and awarded the title of shihan dai. Palmer CRAMER was awarded the title of kyodō. Craig McDADE and Brent GOTCHER were both promoted to nidan. We also reminded students of the upcoming Bali Gasshuku.
It was a great time of friendship and learning!
